• The direct PDF and TIFF printing path of the
HP Designjet 5500 series simplifies any workflow
scenario. This printer, designed for flexibility,
performs unattended in a variety of environments
and supports multiple ink sets (dye-based or
pigment-based UV inks), up to seven embedded
printer languages (Adobe PDF 1.3, Adobe PS 3,
TIFF, JPEG, CALS/G4, HPRTL, and HPGL2), and a
variety of media, including graphics and CAD
media. The HP Designjet 5500 series accommodates
the smaller margin requirements (5 mm) of CAD
applications.
Image Quality

The HP Designjet 5500 series features a new Web-file
submitter, which makes direct PDF, JPEG, and
TIFF printing possible and provides easy connectivity
in multi-platform environments (UNIX®, Linux,
Mac OS, and Windows®). The Web-file submitter
eliminates resending time for large files, which
can be maintained and stored on the new 40 GB
hard disk. Files stored in this way will not
be lost, even if the printer loses power.
• With the HP Designjet 5500 series, you get consistent,
high-quality results from specially-formulated,
patented inks, six-ink HP Color Layering technology,
and the 1200-dpi writing system (1200 x 600 dpi
on glossy media). This technology provides a
wide colour gamut, continuous tones, and smooth
colour transitions for uncompromising image quality.
